I did exactly what you said, and also deleted my previous software update caches, and rebooted my mac. nothing happened still on 10.6.8. i then went to look for a software update again, and it prompted me to restart to finish updating as always.. "after repairing disk permissions, i installed the mac os x 10.3.7 combo updater. after the reboot, selecting 'software update' from the apple menu does nothing.. I reinstalled the system (bad idea to begin with) while i was . . . not in the right state of mind. now, software update fails to connect whenever i try to update the system. i've tried downloading the 10.2.8 combo, but it failed to install as well.. Question: q: mac os x update not working i recently switched to a mac and got my imac shipped with mac os x leopard 10.5.2 i then downloaded 10.5.3 update and after trying to install it the update gets stuck on starting. it reaches the process of configuring installation and does not go anywhere beyaond that..
